YAMS Field Trip: Pine Flat Road

YAMS FIELD TRIPS: Times and meeting places will be given after emailing Lisa Hug at lisahug@sonic.net for a reservation. COVID-19 protocols will be followed.

We will travel up Pine Flat Road an 11-mile uphill climb to the unique chaparral habitat of the northeastern corner of the county. Along the way, we will look for Grasshopper Sparrows, Rufous-crowned Sparrows, California Thrashers and many colorful spring migrants such as Western Tanagers and Lazuli Buntings. At the top we will hope for Mountain Quail (usually heard but not seen) and if we are very lucky, Bell’s Sparrow. You may also want to bring wildflower and butterfly books or apps.
